Agape Institute of Muisc (AIM)
The Agape Institute of Music (AIM) recognizes the intrinsic
value of all humankind, and thus champions issues of
social justice and equality. AIM understands that music
reflects and communicates the political, philosophical,
social, and overall cultural beliefs of the people who
create it. Consequently, music scholarship and
performance provide a rich and varied avenue to
explore these issues, wrestle with the revelations, and
seek common good for all.
AIM’s mission is to foster human development by
championing social justice issues, promoting healing of
the human spirit, and engaging in community outreach
through music scholarship and performance.
AIM uses various methods in carrying out its mission.
AIM Symposium: a yearly symposium is held where a
social justice issue(s) is investigated through music
scholarship and interdisciplinary research. The symposium
brings together musicians, scholars, and activists to
raise awareness of the issue(s) and offer viable solutions.
Concerts and Recitals: AIM sponsors recitals, concerts,
and performance opportunities giving voice to issues of
human rights and social justice.
Community Outreach: The culmination of AIM’s work is
ultimately manifested in its community outreach. By
sponsoring a wide-ranging array of concerts, lecture
recitals, workshops, and symposiums, AIM will bring
diverse communities, cultures, and belief systems together
in pursuit of a more empathetic and equitable society. The annual Agape Music Festival features national and regional
artists/scholars in performance.
